The StuTS is a conference at which students of all linguistic disciplines
give and/or listen to presentations, find out about other linguistics
institutes and get to know other linguistics students. It takes place twice
a year, at the beginning of the summer and winter semesters, and is held
each time at a different university.
The StuTS itinerary includes one day for the social program, intended to
allow students to have a look around the host city and take part in guided
tours, among other things.
Accomodation is provided at other students' residences, although it is a
good idea for participants to bring their own camping mat and sleeping bag.
Breakfast is provided free of charge from Thursday to Saturday at the
university; students are however encouraged to bring their own
silverware/cutlery and a coffee mug.
FAQ
I'm only in my first semester. Can I still take part?
Of course! At the StuTS you can establish contacts, find motivation and get
an idea for a presentation. And then you can come to the next StuTS.
What is the main language of the conference??
The 38th StuTS (Bremen) will conducted in both German and English. It would
of course be of advantage if you at least understand German, though.
What should I bring??
You should have with you:
- a sleeping bag and a camping mat
- breakfast utensils, such as a mug, a plate, silverware/cutlery, and
perhaps a bowl for Müsli
I'd like to offer up a place for StuTSers to sleep. What do I have to do??
Go ahead and send us an email (38.stuts@stuts.de). Since the participants
generally bring sleeping bags and camping mats, you don't necessarily have
to supply anyone with a bed. You don't have to worry about food either. As a
tradeoff you get to take part in the StuTS without having to pay the
participatory fee.
How can I help support the StuTS??
Since the fee for the StuTS is comparatively low priced, we are delighted
about any support you have to offer, be it in the form of financial (or
other) donations, help with the conference organization, offering
participants a place to sleep or hanging up conference posters. If you would
like to help, just send us an email at bremen@stuts.de.
